The Indonesia Domestic Biogas Programme (IDBP), led by Hivos with government and international partners, promotes biogas digesters as a sustainable household energy source in West Nusa Tenggara and East Java. By replacing firewood and costly fossil fuels, the project delivers major benefits: reduced fuel expenses, cleaner air and health improvements, and greater crop yields through bio-slurry use. Most notably, 4,452 women biogas users gained an average of 1.1 hours of time savings per day—a 450% increase—transforming daily life and supporting economic resilience.
